Client: Pennsylvania Institute of Technology

Context: One of the selling points at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology is completing programs in less time than most traditional colleges. Course work is condensed into 11 weeks terms with 4 terms a year. Because of this, most courses are extremely lecture heavy with no opportunities for student interaction to ensure all content is covered.

Challenges: The institute had set a college wide goal of increasing student engagement and active learning within their virtual, hybrid, and in-person courses. After student surveys within the Physical Therapy Assistant program, one area of concern was that this course has limited student interactive or active learning opportunities.

Solutions: This course map was developed to organize the goals, objectives, resources, and assessments that currently were part of the PTA130 course. It provided areas of opportunity where to add active learning for learners.

Results: I added discussions, activities, and assignments that could be utilized each module week that would satisfy the need to integrate more active learning in the course.
